I’m so excited it’s finally Spring! It’s the most beautiful time of year when all of the flowers are in bloom and I can wear my prettiest dresses. I’ve partnered with JustFab to show off one of my favorite outfits from their newest collection which is perfect to wear on a sunny Spring day.

I paired the Novelty Trim Fit and Flare Dress with the Salona Cylinder Heel in Blush because I love the way the two textures look together. The Salona Heels are the perfect height where I can walk around for hours and not have to worry about sacrificing my comfort. I have many weddings ahead and I definitely plan to wear this outfit! It also makes for a great day date outfit, something along the lines of brunch or drinks on a rooftop.

My dream job has always been to write for a fashion magazine. Unfortunately, there aren’t many magazine jobs in the area that I live in so I thought to myself, “Just because you can’t find your dream job, why don’t you create it?” This is how my style blog was formed. I use this blog as a way to express my creativity and escape into the world of fashion which I love so much. But man, creating a blog is HARD. It’s hard and SCARY. Why would anyone want to read my opinions or see how I style my wardrobe? Throughout the process of creating a blog I’ve learned a few things along the way.

Be Original

When I first started my blog I tried to emulate all of my favorite fashion bloggers in the way they posed, they way they styled their photos and even the way they dressed. Then I realized the world doesn’t need more of the same thing, the world needs more originality! The whole reason I wanted to create a blog was to show off MY style, not anyone else. I find the most interesting people are the ones who are 100% true to themselves and you can see that in what you post. It’s important to figure out what you can offer the world that it doesn’t have already.

Be Consistent

The best thing I did was change my style Instagram to a business page so I could see analytics on my posts. I’m able to see when I get the most likes and what types of photos are the most popular. I never realized how much thought goes into the whole process of posting a photo and how important it is to be consistent throughout the week. With my analytics, I’m able to see that sometimes a photo of shoes does better than a photo of lipstick or beauty products. That way I’m able to re-think my posts and decide what my followers want to see.

Be Relatable

Whenever I post a photo I think to myself, “Would I ‘like’ this photo if I was scrolling through my feed and it was someone else?” I only post things that I feel like people can relate to because I think the best part about blogging is being able to engage with like-minded people. If even at least one person can relate to my posts or the way I style my clothes then I feel accomplished. We are all in this together and it’s so important to engage!

What have you learned about blogging? Leave me a comment below. xx

I’m really lucky that I have such a stylish boyfriend (one of the many reasons I love him) and I get to borrow his clothes on the reg. The day he bought this Levi’s jacket I knew I would be making it into an over-sized denim look for me. The point of a relationship is to share, right? (hehe) I’m super into the over-sized silhouette right now because it adds a bit of casual to any look, not to mention it’s soooo comfy. I don’t know about you, but skin tight clothing is just not appealing to me anymore. All of my bandage dresses can stay in the past with my college days. Also, I FINALLY got my cartilage pierced and I’m obsessed. The piercing process itself didn’t hurt at all, but trying to not accidentally snag it on my hair has been difficult. In all, totally worth it and I love how cute the gold hoop looks on my ear. Dare I say I might want more? Eeeek.

I absolutely love bodysuits in all colors, silhouettes and fabrics. I’m a huge fan because they always suck everything in and make me feel super sexy. One of my favorite ‘going out’ outfits is a black bodysuit with high waisted jeans and strappy heels. I used to think bodysuits were just for going out at night, but then I started wearing them with classic pieces like midi skirts and I realized how elegant they can make any outfit look. This off-the-shoulder bodysuit could even be worn to work or out for a nice dinner when paired with the correct accessories.

I literally can’t leave my house until I’ve spritzed myself with one of the below fragrances. I wear perfume every single day and I usually stick to my signature scents until I feel like trying something new. I’ve always been drawn to the smokier scents like Jo Malone’s ‘Wood Sage and Sea Salt’ and I usually stay away from florals. As for candles, I can’t live without my Diptyque and Voluspa. My two favorites are ‘Baies’ and ‘Baltic Amber’ which I burn regularly at my house. I love that something as simple as a fancy perfume or candle can make me feel so luxurious. Not to mention they are great decor pieces!

I can’t believe it’s already January 2018. So many fun things to look forward to this month such as my 27th birthday! I love January. It always reminds me of new beginnings and fresh starts, yet I’ve never really loved making resolutions. When I did make resolutions in the past I would put so much pressure on myself and would feel like a failure if I didn’t accomplish everything. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized life is more about intentions than resolutions.

Stop Being Afraid of Saying ‘No’

Why are we so afraid of this word? I think we constantly feel like we have to say ‘yes’ to everything because if we don’t then we are letting people down. At the end of the day, the only person that matters is you and if you’re not taking care of yourself physically, mentally and emotionally then there’s going to be a burn out. I’m vowing to say ‘no’ to the things I hate, ‘no’ to my friends when I just need a night in and ‘no’ to life experiences that don’t serve me. 2018 is all about being more selective with what makes me happy.

Celebrate the Small Wins

Sometimes I get so caught up in the big picture that I forget to celebrate small wins in my life. I forget that Rome wasn’t built in a day and it takes a lot to be successful and have everything that you want. This year I really want to create small goals for myself and celebrate when I accomplish them. These can be anything from eating healthy an entire day or writing on my blog once a week. Instead of feeling bad about not having everything at once, I want to be able to be happy with where I’m at.

Live Simply

I want to clean out the clutter from my life and live simply. I mean this in a literal and metaphorical way. There’s always material items I can be donating and routines I can be making shorter (aka getting ready in the morning.) I believe that life is so beautiful if you stop, relax and take a look around instead of constantly wanting more.

Accept the Things I Cannot Change

There are so many things in my life that I can’t control. It’s taken me many years to realize that I can’t predict the outcome of life and that everything happens the way it’s supposed to happen. I can only control the things I can control and I have to have faith that everything else will work out on it’s own.

Intentions are so great because they are lifestyle changes we can always implement in our lives. I truly believe 2018 will be an amazing year and I’m so excited for what’s to come.

Ashley

There’s nothing I love more than a floral dress. Add an ‘off the shoulder’ silhouette and I’m in absolute heaven. Thank you Current/Elliott for making this beauty that I can easily throw on to survive this hot hot heat. The chunky heels are from Joie and they make for a perfect summer sandal.
